West Augustine Block Party Washout and Pop-Up Location

On Saturday, August 14, we attempted to host the West Augustine block party at the American Legion field on Pearl St. 

Prince McDougle came out to the block party despite the bad weather.

Unfortunately, after several months of planning we encountered several obstacles including the increase in Covid-19 cases in our community and rain in the forecast. With the first day of school around the corner, we decided to move forward as a possible day for postponing seemed too far away in the future for the food that had already been purchased.

It kept on raining, and when lightning began to occur, we decided to pack up and move the grilling operation home. We did not want the food to go to waste, so we kept on cooking, and when there was a break in the rain, we invited everyone to come out and get food, drinks, and snacks to go.

A big thank you to everyone, who helped us out, and a special thank you to the American Legion for allowing us to use the field, Willie Cooper who brought us hamburgers and hot dogs, Kathleen Wilson who brought hot dog and hamburger breads, and Kathy Johnson who helped with paper goods, water, and snacks.
